ABOUT
PROJECT
HOW IT WORKS
Created with the intention of enriching and bolstering the student journey, the ASU app is brimming with daily-utilized features that facilitate staying well-informed, efficient, and connected to all aspects of ASU.
PROBLEM
ASU students need an app that supports their busy lives, but the current ASU Mobile App is falling short. Despite its many features, students are frustrated with its usability and design.
Through in-depth usability research and the application of Human Systems Engineering principles, my goal is to identify the major issues and create effective solutions. By redesigning the ASU Mobile App, I aim to significantly improve the student experience and meet their needs.

SOLUTION
The redesigned ASU Mobile App will draw upon new and existing research on student retention and acculturation to enhance its usability and effectiveness. By providing students with personalized features and information relevant to their interests and needs, the app will create a tailored experience that significantly improves the college experience for ASU students.
The ultimate goal is to create a reliable and user-friendly app that supports student retention efforts and contributes to the university's efforts to support student achievement.
RESEARCH
A survey was used to gather data on user needs and preferences to inform the redesign of the ASU college app. The data collected were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods to identify areas for improvement and create a user-friendly interface that caters to the needs of the entire ASU community.

Feedback on the ASU app home page was divided among 24 users, with 11 expressing no major issues and 13 proposing changes to enhance functionality and engagement.
REQUESTED CHANGES
The most requested change to the home screen was to adjust the layout because there is too much empty space on the initial landing

“The ASU Daily tab is too far down. Half the screen is wasted space.”

“I like it, but there is a lot of blank space that I don’t think needs to be there.”

“It’s okay but very basic and takes up a lot of space.”
The second most requested change to the home screen was to adjust the class schedule to appear more towards the top and to include more pertinent information along with the schedule such as class time and room number

“Maybe having my classes/ schedule added along with the date.”

“I would imagine it would be more useful if it showed your daily school schedule with times and classrooms rather than the weather.”
